Self-Love A New Found Love

What is self-love?

Focusing on your well-being and happiness, food for your soul. Self-Love is setting time aside to do things that make you happy.

How many times have you caught yourself thinking or even saying negative comments to yourself out loud and believing in them? Or even better looked around society and observed how we look so beautiful and happy on the outside but, in reality, we are broken on the inside due to the lack of creativity and expression. I’m sure you’ve heard the term, “Beauty only runs skin deep” and well, it’s very much true. There are 7.2 billion people on this earth and in some way or another, we all have negative thoughts that can linger and eat away at us, some more than others (this doesn’t make you weak this makes you human).  We are all guilty in some way or another of comparing ourselves to the next person, which can lead self-esteem issues. It’s important that we lift each other up, you know each one teach one, but it’s also very important that we let go of all the negativity and let our soul be just as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside.

Recently I’ve started to become more in tune with myself, I took a vow to focus on me for a while. I haven’t been through any crazy break-up or devastating life transition, I’ve been thinking a lot and shedding light on areas in my life like my career and personal goals. For the past few months, I haven’t really taken the time to just worry about me and my well-being. I mean I have but, I wasn’t giving myself my 100% effort. So I started to take small steps to pursue my journey to self-love. My first step was to stand back and reflect on my thoughts. Now, I’m far from a pessimist I’m actually very optimistic but just like the other 7.2 billion people in this world, I tend to think and/or say negative thoughts and words from time to time. My goal is to make that habit (negativity)  lessen more and more each day as I spread my #BlackGirlMagic throughout the universe. As a  result, AFFIRMATIONS (with a sprinkle of Jesus, yes God).

Affirmations, in a nutshell, are words of encouragement and emotional support. If you want to be technical affirmations are sentences aimed to affect the subconscious and conscious mind. By these short sentences they help with the following:

  • Keep you focused as well as motivated
  • Change the way you think (positive vibes only) and change your overall perspective on life or a specific situation.
  • Identify values that mean the most to you
  • Creativity
  • Lower stress levels
  • Healthier self-esteem
  • A clearer self-awareness

The list can continue to grow with benefits on why affirmations are great tool to add to your self-love ritual or journey. What really matters is what you find that truly matters to you. I put together a few (lol really like twelve haha) to help you begin your much needed healthy and joyous self-love journey.

Self-Love Affirmations

Something to remember it is natural for you (because you are human) to have doubts and think negative; but do you know how you can outshine those negative thoughts and doubtful moments? The very first thing is to trust in whoever you worship in the universe and lastly always push through it’s all about keeping life simple.

Always love thy self first it’s okay to be selfish.

(Who gonna check you boo?!)
